Australian Leaf
As a contribution to the Centenary of Federation of Australia, the Supporters laid out and developed the Australian Leaf. The aim was to showcase Australian bred roses which had been developed over the period 1901 to 2001, with roses from every State and as many Australian breeders as we could find.
The Leaf was officially opened in 2001, with 56 beds and 8 tripods, making a total of 64 different Australian cultivars. The Supporters have realised that not all roses are suited to our environment, so one of the beds in Leaf 'B' has been converted to a Trial Bed, where we plant six lots of three cultivars for a two year trial. Their transition into the main arena depends on their performance over that two year period.
