Here are JUST some of the activities available for 2024 :::::
Celebrating its 10th year in 2024, this free event will take place over one colour-filled weekend, from Saturday 9 to Sunday 10 November. Whether you are a certified green thumb or a gardening novice, there’ll be something for everyone.
Across the weekend the gardens will transform into a kaleidoscope of colour as the spring sunshine lights up over 5,000 rose bushes and the manicured lawns play host to numerous garden exhibits, plant stalls, food trucks, and live music – making it a must-see event for visitors of all ages.
The State Rose & Garden Show is free for all ages; however a gold coin donation is encouraged to assist the Victoria State Rose Garden Supporters (volunteers) with their upkeep of the garden.
Highlights of the two-day event include the following:
The Gardeners’ Dome will host an impressive line-up of gardening experts covering a broad range of gardening topics, including everything from fruit tree planting and grafting to how to maintain your garden tools. Speakers include horticulturist and garden coach, Chloe Thomson, the charismatic Vasili Kanidiadis of ‘Vasili’s Garden’, local permaculture expert and founding member of Werribee Park Heritage Orchard, Scott Hitchins, and Kat Lavers the passionate gardener and designer behind The Plummery.
Green Hub – an interactive space which will shine a spotlight on sustainable living and gardening practices, including free gardening advice.
Free, hands-on and interactive workshops will be on offer at the All Green Workshops and Café. Highlights include sculpting miniature ornaments for your garden with ceramist Melissa Murphy-Vella, design and create an insect hotel with Lachlan Mackenzie from the Common Ground Project, make compost tea with best-selling author and radio host AB Bishop, learn how to make and preserve Quickles with Maria Ciavarella from My Green Garden, seed planting with All Green Nursery and Garden; and create a beautiful hanging mobile for your garden or outdoor space with Emma Grace.
The incredible aerial artists SWAY will return with a new, gravity defying show as they perform high above the garden.
The Country Women’s Association (CWA Point Cook) are also back by popular demand, serving their famous scones, jam and cream, rose flavoured cupcakes, rose coloured lamingtons and Persian love biscuits made with rose petals. A range of other tasty bites will also be on offer from onsite food trucks.
Timboon Fine Ice Cream will be serving up tasty rose flavoured ice, while The Prosecco Van will add a touch of sparkle. Add to the mix the chilled sounds of an acoustic set and attendees have all the essential ingredients for a leisurely picnic on the lush green lawns.
Plus much more! Including guided tours of the Victoria State Rose Garden, led by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers who tend and nurture the garden year-round.
